What is all the buzz about?
By David West | February 10, 2010
With the ability to embed rich media, video, images and links in your Buzz – I can see how it may be more attractive than the likes of Twitter. Location aware apps for smart phones give Buzz similar abilities as FourSquare, which has been getting a lot of it’s own Buzz lately.
Google Buzz, on first glance, looks like something that more people will embrace. The fact that it is tied to Google’s gmail makes it highly likely that the adoption rates will be very high. You will be able to receive replies and follow conversations right from your inbox. Some may find the close association, to Google a bit too much like being taken by the Borg – resistance is futile… you will be assimilated.
- No setup needed – automatically follow people you email and chat with the most in Gmail.
- Share publicly or privately.
- Inbox integration make it easier to participate in conversations.
- Photo friendly – (if it is anything like Google Waves gallery capabilities it’s going to be cool!)
- Connect sites you already use… like Twitter, Picasa, Flickr and Google Reader
- See updates in real time.
- Buzz will recommend interesting posts and weeds out ones your likely to skip (hmm, sounds like a marketing opportunity here)
